The Americans providing foreign aid to the Palestinians is a good way to keep the Palestinians on a track to peace and away from the growing Iranian sphere of influence in what is now the Mideast power vacuum. That Iran is quickly trying to fill, and the US is desperately trying to hold the ground and influence that it still has, in the face of growing Islamic militancy and Fascism, partially spurred on by Iran.

If the US were suddenly to withdraw or decrease aid, Iran would be there in a heartbeat, greatly increasing its influence. To see the work of this, all one must do is to look at the Gaza Strip. We all remember Iran's proxy army, Hamas, launching a blitzkrieg into the Gaza Strip, using Iranian-funded commando training and weaponry; the entire strip of land fell quickly and easily. Hamas, continuing to receive Iranian monies and weapons, has turned the Gaza Strip into a fortress that bristles with ever-increasingly advanced weapons, including longer and longer range missiles that are capable of unleashing deeper and deeper strikes into Israel, with more and more explosive power.

The US providing this aid to the Palestinian Authority helps give a much stronger voice to the Palestinian moderates who don't necessarily want to see a future Palestinian state ruled by Islamic hardliners constantly at war with Israel and the West. This foreign aid helps build a bridge between the USA and the PA, greatly diminishing the voice of the hardliners wanting to destroy Israel. This in turn helps to build a totally free and democractic future Palestinian state that is is truly representative of the long suffering Palestian people, who have not had a country of their own, and have been scattered throughout the other Arab countries for generations. A people who have legitimate demands for a state in the Palestinian lands.

America's influence is deeply waning in the troubled Middle East. With the long running wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, coupled with the desire for regime change, and other events, including, ironically, the stalled Mideast peace process, US influence is rapidly receeding in the Middle East. Iran, Russia and China are growing as Mideast power brokers. Helping to Fund the PA is worth its weight in gold in dividends, if it helps end the Arab-Israeli conflict, which, in turn, will help negate the growing power of the hardliners in Tehran, who are pushing on with the development of nuclear weapons.
Continuing with aid to the Palestinians eventually helps lead to a successful peace treaty that creates a Palestinian state-with resolution over Jerusalem-and maybe the Golan Heights. Iran and Syria are less able to unleash one final apocalyptic blow to the region, as the problems that helped develop the crisis are finally resolved. The US should actually increase the aid to the legitimate Palestinian Authority. An investment that could go a long way towards bringing the world finally to a state of peace.

"If you want money for minds that hate, all I can say brother is you have to wait."

It is amazing to examine the past sixty years and find that we continue to play the same game with no end in sight, little has changed from 1948 to the present as far as the problem of refugees across the middle east. We play the magnanimous benefactor to generations of hate driven fanatics and wonder why peace can not be achieved. We expect nothing from our investment, which has been considerable, excusing terror, murder, hatred, chauvinism and pure laziness by religious and cultural differences.

It seems our government, both dems and republicans think the answer to a lasting peace is to buy off the gun toting chaps with the promise of their own state, a state that promotes suicide bombers, rocket launching cowboys and masked cowards who run around condemning the very patrons(us the dumb US taxpayer)that would bring this state into being. Imagine having one of our neighbors Mexico or Canada sending killers into our cities, launching Syrian and Iranian missiles daily into Texas, California , New England or wherever they think that may terrorize the populace most, and being defended by that Aguste body called the UN, why I,m sure we would excuse that behavior as being cultural.

Our society does not tolerate hate speech, even when done in jest, we are swift to punish those with loss of jobs, condemnation, and a good old Amish dose of being shunned. Our high ideals and political correctness have undone many in politics and the media, we feel secure in the thought of our pious view, even if it sometimes infringes slightly on freedom of speech. So why do we excuse those who ratchet hate speech to the highest degree and physically act on that hate?

It must be our pathetic racism towards peoples who behave so badly, why they must either be incapable of good judgment or to stupid to see that acting forever the barbarian would doom them to the miserable existence they have endured post Israel. Sending aid to prop up legions of hate educators, terror exporters, and anti western ideals seem as stupid as the people getting the aid.

There is great disparity in how we handle the amount of aid we give throughout the world, true we give Israel the bulk of what we spend in the middle east, we expect a certain degree of influence and loyalty, we get neither from the Palestinians, we get our noses rubbed in it daily, celebration when we are attacked , our flag burned and a generous amount of hate directed toward our society. Yet we excuse this behavior and continue our benevolent aid to this fanatical failure. Americans should expect a degree of cooperation, a change in attitude, an acceptance of the state of Israel a new vision for the average Palestinian.

Giving aid to a corrupt populace is akin to George Custer doing battle carrying only flowers, the end is the same, only much quicker.
