Next week, the National Football League is scheduled to feature their all-star game. In Honolulu, Hawaii, the Pro Bowl will showcase two conference teams, the NFC and AFC. They will feature some of the year's best quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive and defensive tackles, linebackers, corners and safeties. These men are the best at their respective positions.
Last night, National Broadcasting Company (NBC) put on an exhilarating Superbowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals battled like gladiators for sixty, exciting and pulse-pounding minutes. But, in six days, a more relaxing contest will showcase football's most popular athletes. American Broadcasting Company (ABC) will show the Pro Bowl on Sunday, February 8th.
The American Football Conference (AFC) has an intimidating roster.
Their quarterbacks include the likes of: Peyton Manning, Kerry Collins, Chad Pennington and Phillip Rivers.
The running backs are: Chris Johnson, Thomas Jones, Steve Slaton and LeRon McClain (fullback).
Wide receivers are: Brandon Marshall, Hines Ward, Reggie Wayne, Derrick Mason and others.
Tight-ends are: Tony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates.
Defensive tackles, ends, linebackers, corners and safeties include: Ray Lewis, Albert Haynesworth, , Mario Williams, Courtland Finnegan, Terrell Suggs, Bart Scott, Ed Reed, Antonio Cromartie, Troy Polamalu, James Harrison and Mike Vrabel to name a few.
This impressive roster would make most opponents back down. But, the National Football Conference (NFC) has a stable of thoroughbreds as well.
Their quarterbacks are: Drew Brees (5,000 passing yards this season), Kurt Warner and Matt Ryan.
The running backs include the likes of: Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte and Michael Turner.
Wide receivers are an eclectic mix. They are Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Lance Moore, Roddy White and others.
Tight-ends are Greg Olsen and Kevin Boss.
Defensive tackles, ends, corners and safeties include: Brian Dawkins, Assante Samuel, Justin Tuck, Jonathan Vilma and others.
Substitutions aside, both teams are powerful.
But, the NFC team is more diverse. At running back, they have power and speed. At quarterback, Ryan, Brees and Warner are able to throw the deep ball with accuracy. Olsen and Boss can run excellent routes, pass and run block.
Plus, the Steelers are world champions. The AFC feels over-confident after winning the "big game". And despite Ben Roethlisberger's heroics last Sunday, he isn't on the Pro Bowl team.
Football's best quarterback will be partying in Orlando, Florida's Disneyworld. NFC wins 27-14.
