Fabio Capello is easily the right man for the England job. OK, he is a foreign manager, but that doesn't mean he lacks any of the qualities or skills an english manager would have. It's fair to say the english managers we've had in recent years have been tactically inept and haven't put any passion in the England team. Capello is different. He is a much more enthusiastic and passionate coach than Keegan, Mclaren and Hoddle put together. The performance in the second half in the friendly against Switzerland shows this, where England were playing some really great football, reminiscent of the Venables glory days of Euro '96.
It amazes me that people would favour a manager like Roy Hodgson or Gary Megson to be manager of England. I can safely say that there is no English manager that comes close to matching Capello's talent or CV. The England team needs a manager who is best for the job, regardless of what their nationality is. It's the only way the England team are going to improve, and thats really important, England needs to be a major football force again.
It really makes sense to appoint Capello for the England job. England is a world-class underachieving team but now they have a world-class overachieving manager. If you've got a great manager and a great team then it's a win-win situation. Capello is a manager who demands respect from his team, and the England players must acknowledge this and control their egos. It's the only way that the players are gonna play with their heart on their sleeves and they really should know its not all about the money. You could have the best players in the world, but if they won't play with any passion, then they ain't going to get any silverware. Capello has the motivation and talent to sort the England team out.
Capello doesn't mess about with his team. Unlike Mclaren, he won't draw against lowly teams such as Israel or watch England being beaten by Croatia on our own backyard. Mclaren's management spell at England was flawed, as managing Middlesbrough isn't the same as managing England. Capello seems flawless in every managerial job he's taken, so he's more than capable of making England into a world cup winning side.
So that's quite a strong case for Capello, if only the FA had thought about appointing him before Mclaren or even Eriksson. We have an England manager who can restore pride and integrity into the England team again.
