Should the father have a say when it comes to an abortion? Absolutely. Bottom line is that the child is part his. The mere fact that not only biologically (or scientifically) the child is from the father, but also spiritually. It is a fact that if you are a Christian, a believer in Jesus Christ and the Bible, then you believe that abortion is wrong. A man who believes this should be able to exercise his right based off of these facts.

Abortion is to terminate the life growing inside of the mother. While the mother is the vessel in which the baby is nurtured until birth, that child still has a father. There are too many gray areas the other side of this will argue such as men cannot deliver or carry the child themselves so they shouldn't have a say or it is the woman's body and it should be her sole decision. While I understand and sympathize to these arguments, I cannot agree with them, nor by my conscience should I.

However, there should definitely be some ground rules. I think that the mother should have the fathers signature when getting the procedure done. If the father refuses the procedure, he must concede to certain obligations in order to save the child. He should be willing to cover all medical costs during the pregnancy, must be able to show he can or is able to provide for the child and should pay the woman enough money to cover at least all living expenses and pregnancy clothes. This should be a legal, court adopted agreement between the man and woman. Upon birth the woman is to surrender the child to the father. Any decision on visitation with the mother thereafter would be up to the father who would be awarded full custody and the court in the district. You can bet though that after the child's birth most women would want a big part in that child's life. Also, if the mother still wants nothing to do with the child, her parents or the child's grandparents should have at least minimal visitation if they so wish to pursue.

There are many good single fathers out there who love their children and would be willing to do the above if they had the right. Most would probably reject the process but at least they would have the opportunity to have a say before the murder of their unborn child.

Women have been fighting for equal rights for a long time and they have made significant headway. Every man should have rights to his child automatically, not if the mother decides to let him. We are not talking about a dog or a car, but a human life and the very idea of terminating the child is barbaric on its own, but even more so that the father of that child has to sit back and be a bystander.
