Governments are already using climate change, previously referred to as global warming, as a means to control the general population. A prime example today is England, where the government is already proposing the rationing of fuel through the issuance of allowance cards under government control. With the American Senate already debating a "cap and trade" system, the impetus is already underway to introduce government controls in this country.
My major concern with all of this us twofold. First, America was founded upon individual freedom and capitalism. Programs such as the current Climate Security Act of 2008 (or the cap and trade program) will severely restrict business and individuals in what they can do. The end result will be implementation of the second concern: more taxes, higher fuel costs, and a reduction in economic growth. In effect, we will be creating a government program to reintroduce something akin to Jimmy Carter's misery index which put this country in a major tailspin in the late 1970s.
If all of the scientific information was conclusive maybe I would look at this differently. The data, however, is not clear. After all, we are trying to base decisions on records which have only been kept officially for only about 150 years on a planet which has existed for millions. Furthermore, over 31,000 legitimate scientists have concluded that this program is a hoax and that we don't have nearly enough information to make the conclusion that manmade CO2 is the cause of anything. Of course, the mainstream media tries to hide this fact as they have already bought in to the premise that we are destroying the world. I suspect that changes over time in sunspot activity, coupled with current changes which routinely take place in our oceans, have more to do with climate change than anything else.
For Al Gore and a large portion of the United States Senate to proclaim that the debate is over in not only foolhardy, but contrary to good science. If we based our decision-making on this type of logic, we would probably still believe that the world is flat. Let us all apply a little common sense with good science to determine what is really happening without first causing a potential worldwide economic disaster. Remember, we humans are also part of the world's environment, and we are certainly at least as important as polar bears. While we want to save the polar bears, we also want to save mankind and make this world better through responsible conservation and the perpetuation of freedom and economic growth for the benefit of all of us.

Change is not easy but often necessary. In the case of climate change, the government may have no choice but to change some of our lifestyle choices and I doubt seriously that the changes would be drastic in any way. Nevertheless, as our climate continues to act up, all of us need to pitch in and do our share to help preserve the environment.
Unfortun ately, there are a lot of people who, for whatever reason, feel as if they shouldn't have to do anything. These are the same persons who refuse to prepare for emergencies, but when an emergency occurs, they burden those who did prepare. They let others make the sacrifices and take advantage of them when push comes to shove.
Nevertheless, those of us who have kept an eye on the Climate Changes and the devastating affects it has had worldwide, know how serious it's getting. We are smart enough to recognize the fact that the climate is getting more and more unstable every year and that it doesn't matter who or what is to blame. What matters at this point is what to do about it.
And then there are those who refuse to lift a finger to do their part until the fat cats, who waste energy, do their fair share. They indeed should do their share, but it's not going to happen.
If you're thinking it's unfair, you're absolutely right, but we all know that life is seldom fair. The world's resources are running out and like it or not, there will always be rich fat cats who squander while the common person sacrifices for the good of others.
However, there are many government officials that we have elected to office who don't run in the "fat cat" circle. They genuinely want what's best for the people. Furthermore, due to those who absolutely refuse to do their part to help clean up the environment, laws may have to be put into place to force them to do it.
Laws such as garbage restrictions may have to be imposed. Cities may have to organize garbage pickup to include recyclables. It could someday be against the law to put anything into the garbage that can be recycled. Each household may have to have separate containers for glass, plastic, paper and cans.
It could be that someday, a person would have to prove a need for a gas-guzzling automobile before they're allowed to own one. Strict water and power laws could go into effect, limiting the amount of water and power we use.
If we the people start conserving now, the government wouldn't have to impose such restrictions. But because of those who refuse to do their part, there could come a time in the near future when the government may have no choice; otherwise, those who care only for themselves will end up wasting what few resources we have left.
Therefore, if you are concerned that governments may use climate change policy to limit your lifestyle choices, you should be more worried about what you and your family are doing to help prevent the need for the government to step in.
God sets governments and no one can have a position of authority except by God.
"Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God (Romans 13)
Whether you believe it or not, God is still in control and He is doing wonderful things for those who come to Him. Of course, those who have chosen to ignore Him won't like the things He's doing.
"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man; coming in a cloud with power and great glory." (Luke 21:25)
Climate Changes are affecting world resources. Learn to conserve now on your own before the government, appointed by God, steps up and forces you to do what is right.
