Should the government fund cancer research?

In answer to the question: Should the government fund cancer research?
I believe there will never be a medical cure for cancer because medicines are designed to alleviate symptoms. A cure must address the physical, mental and spiritual componets of any disease and bring them into harmony.
Mainstream cancer research gives false hope to cancer patients, and I would oppose any campaign to pressure any government to give taxpayers money to the medical industry.
* The Medical Monopoly
"The field of U.S. cancer care is organized around a medical monopoly that ensures a continuous flow of money to the pharmaceutical companies, medical technology firms, research institutes and government agencies such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and quasi-public organizations such as the American Cancer Society (ACS)."
* Alternative Remedies
"It is illegal for a homeopath, naturopath, herbalist etc to treat cancer in the UK (Cancer Act), or advertise any remedy for cancer. Only a medical doctor is allowed to treat cancer. This effectively makes it illegal to treat cancer with herbs. You can treat yourself but you can't legally use the advice of a herbal doctor. You can go into any hospital or surgery and get virtually free drug medicine, but if you want to treat your cancer with far cheaper herbs or nutrients, you have to take full responsibility for your actions."-John Diamond, M.D., & Lee Cowden, M.D.
* In my own efforts to find the root cause and remedy for my ailments, I have researched the findings of hundreds of conventional and alternative studies. Two of the things that stand out as possible causes of most chronic and mysterious ailments are - unresolved stress and toxaemia.
* Toxaemia
Caused by a build-up of heavy metals and/ or chemicals, which poisons the blood, compromise the digestive and immune systems - and progressively damage the nervous system, thereby causing pain, early dementia, depression and a loss of vital energy in the body.
* Stress caused by unresolved emotions
Most cancer doctors agree that the emotional health of the cancer patient is crucial to their recovery – that long-standing feelings of guilt, resentment and grief can weaken the will to live.
* The main obstacles between the stressed individual and the solution are:
They are not aware that the physical symptoms they experience are caused by stress – they don’ t know the cause of the stress - they take medication to alleviate the symptoms, or they avoid taking remedial action because they are too busy.
* Geopathic stress:
(GS) is one of the least known of all the stresses that adversely affect our health. It is a natural form of earth-radiation that is disrupted by the flow of fast flowing or polluted underground streams, electricity, radon gas and geological faults. Due to climactic and geological variations, the nature and intensity of the stress can vary from place to place and season to season.
* Evidence Connecting Geopathic Stress to Illness:
Dr. H. Nieper, M.D., states that 92% of all his cancer patients and 75% of his MS patients are Geopathically stressed. Dr. Nieper is a world-renowned cancer specialist and operates one of the largest MS practices in the world. Both himself and Dr. E. Hartmann, M.D., are convinced that cancer is mainly a disease of location caused by Geopathic Stress.
Von Pohl proved to the Central Committee for Cancer Research in Berlin, almost 60 years ago, that one was unlikely to get cancer unless one spent some time in Geopathically Stressed places (mainly when sleeping). Dr. Hager, M.D., found Geopathic Stress was present in all 5,348 cancer cases investigated. “These people are not merely a few 'geophophobic' individuals seeking attention!”
GS is often a factor in cases of domestic strife, MS, ME, asthma, infertility, miscarriage, arthritis, cancer and much more. Also in many cases of children with learning difficulties and behavioural problems.
Natural remedies and medicines may ease a health condition quickly, but they are not a cure and should not be relied upon in the long term.

According to the U.S. Constitution, one role of the government is to "promote the general welfare" of its people. This clearly means that the health of the citizens of the United States is important to the success of the nation. Also according to the United States Constitution, the Congress has the power to collect taxes that will pay for the general welfare of United States citizens as long as every American benefits equally.
According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 25% of Americans die of some form of cancer. Even if this data has been fudged to get increased attention and funding, there is no arguing that every American has experienced a loss of at least one loved one due to cancer. This is a serious disease in the United States and is definitely within the confines of the Constitution to not only permit but demand that the government use our tax dollars to fight this devastating disease.
At this time in the political history of the U.S., there is a heated debate about the government funding health care. Most of the arguments both for and against are completely irrelevant in this constitutional republic. Although many things that the government wastes taxpayer money on is completely illegal, health care is not. If the American people are not healthy enough to contribute to society then it's the government's job to ensure that they are.
Many forms of cancer are curable if they are caught early enough. Others are preventable if the family doctor can detect lifestyle and genetic warnings. However, if millions of Americans cannot afford to go to the doctor until it's way too late then there is a problem that the nation needs to address. Of 19 industrialized nations, the United States ranks 15th for death due to lack of health care. Of those same nations, the U.S. has fewer doctors per 1000 patients. And of those patients who actually can afford to see a doctor, many cannot afford the medicines prescribed. These are the reasons that the American Cancer Society supports a universal health care system in the U.S.
Ideally, the U.S. government will stop spending trillions of our tax dollars on military equipment and conquests. Instead of finding new ways of killing people with unmanned aircraft and depleted uranium bombs they will spend that money on trying to save the lives of American taxpayers. If the U.S. government will stop spending more trillions of dollars bailing out bankers who bet badly on the stock market, there would be cures for the diseases that shorten the lives of so many American taxpayers. It's time the government reads the Constitution that they swore allegiance to and started funding cancer research. It not only promotes the general welfare but benefits everyone equally. Wars and bailouts only benefit a select few.
