“I joined Helium reluctantly, but then I saw that there was a niche for everyone, especially the one that interested me the most – creative writing. One word descriptions created a short story, another word created the basis for a novel that I am working on now. An odd title got my juices flowing and a novel excerpt was created. That was the best part, to be able to write and have the ‘excuse’ to write in an area that I am very comfortable with. Getting paid was a bonus, but I never expected much. Now I do because of the success stories that float around the community forums (and how generously people share the info). Learning to promote my work is taking time, but the assistance here has been tremendous. Feedback (rare, but much appreciated) has been invaluable. I love to do research and writing to topics that required in-depth research keeps my brain going and learning. I have met some incredibly nice and helpful people who take the time out of their writing schedule to listen, offer suggestions and help out. Writing is addictive and having a variety of topics to write about fuels the creative process.”

“Helium has offered me so much over the past three and a half years. I’ve won money through various contests, honed my writing skills and built up my portfolio. After college, I had a hard time finding a job in the field of writing because I had no experience. Helium offered me that experience, and so now I’m an editorial assistant and writer who has the opportunity to become more. And while this job has come in the way of me writing regularly for Helium, I know those titles will be there waiting for me when I do have a chance.”
Wesley Kaye, Helium writer
“Helium is an awesome place to be for all types of writers. I have just started my writing career and enjoy all Helium has to offer in order to make an extra buck while doing something I truly love. I hope to be a journalist in the future, and Helium will help me build a very nice portfolio of my work. I hope to be here for a very long, long time.”

"When I stumbled upon Helium it was like a dream come true! You mean I can write pretty much what is on my mind and get paid for it? I couldn't believe such a great site existed. All of us on Helium should thank our lucky stars that the founders of Helium had the foresight to make it a reality. I am also looking forward to the day when Helium will supplement my retirement income in a major way, so I continue to write. Even if I wasn't getting paid to write, I would do it anyway, as I love it!"

“In January 2008 I received an invitation from a fellow guide on another travel writing site inviting me to check out Helium. Since I wasn’t acquainted with this other writer I was a little leery and hesitant to answer the invitation. I overcame my reluctance and I was delighted to find a site that would allow me to write on a variety of subjects not just travel. I can honestly say I have never looked back. Within two months I had joined the stewards program and the woman who had invited me was my steward in travel. When she stepped down I became the travel channel steward, now root channel manager, and I have loved every minute of it. Not only can I write lots of articles but I can compete in contests, sell articles on the Content Source and as stock content but I can join an active and accepting community of writers who help each other to grow and improve. I have made some wonderful friends all over the world and even though I have never met them I feel like I have known them forever. I have taken advantage of every opportunity that has come my way and I can honestly say I can’t imagine my life without Helium. I do know that on the rare days that the system is down, I get a slightly panicky feeling; it is that much a part of my everyday life. Helium, I love you and I look forward to many more years of working together.”

“Helium’s Content Source has been invaluable for me as a writer. It’s helped me hone my research and writing skills and start to build a career doing what I love. The tools are easy to use and the staff is supportive and helpful. The subjects I’ve written about have run the gamut from things I know and love to those well outside my comfort zone. It’s been a great way to build a quality portfolio and showcase my versatility in both subject matter and style. Content Source has forced me to stretch and grow as a writer and get paid for doing it! What more could any writer ask?”

"I discovered Helium while suffering a bit of an economic slump. I was a journalist working a retail job on weekends to bring in some extra, translated to ‘must-have,’ cash. The recession meant no pay raise in my future while any positive change in my life required a bit of a cash infusion.
That's when I searched for user-generated sites like Helium.com. What kept me at Helium was the staff's personality, which I found lacking at some other sites.
My journalism credentials and some pestering on my part convinced the staff to give me a chance to do some extra work. Before I knew it that turned into a contract with a Helium client as an editorial assistant updating the client’s national websites. I also had the chance to write stories that are placed on the client’s sites.
The retail job was gone. I had the chance to do something more geared towards my career. While it takes a continued willingness to work hard and help out when needed, my partnership with Helium has also given me the chance to make so much money that I almost doubled my monthly pay.
Succeeding at a site like Helium.com requires a willingness to work hard. Letting yourself be known doesn't hurt either. If a writer is willing to give it the extra effort, I would definitely suggest Helium.”
Laura Beth Caldwell, Helium writer
“First, let me just say what a wonderful outlet Helium is for writers. I am so happy to have a website like this that provides such an amazing opportunity for writers and publishers alike. I am a novelist and freelance writer who, like so many of you, has searched for a launching platform for my work. Well, here it is! Helium has been a great source of knowledge, community and I'm even making some money -- that's always a bonus! Did I mention the feedback? Having fellow writers read and rate our work is a fabulous tool that only makes us better at what we do. All in all, I have to say I'm happy to be here. I look forward to sharing the ‘craft’ with all of you. Happy scribbling.”

"When my retirement writing hobby started to earn money in Content Source, I thought, 'Well, isn't that nice!' When one of my sales turned into a regular assignment with the same publisher, I thought, 'I must be dreaming!' My confidence has grown, my skills have become more polished, and having a paying hobby at this time in my life is the icing on the cake. Because of Helium's recognition, I felt confident to branch out locally into other types of freelance writing and have my first client!"
Kellie Morrison, Helium writer

"My writing career changed courses a few years back due to different factors, and I became on online writer, seeking a job which would reward me for my writing skills. Since writing for Helium Content Source, my ambitions have been fulfilled, as the site gave me an opportunity to see what real publishers set as criteria for the work they were prepared to buy. Helium has helped to educate me in a newer style of writing, taught me research skills, and enhanced my career to encompass sufficient time to write about those subjects for which I feel a passion. In turn, my career as a freelance journalist has indeed been enhanced as a direct result of my interaction with Helium.com as a website."

“What I like best about Helium is that it offers opportunities for writing about the subjects that interest me the most: namely computing, education, business and the environment. Opportunities are varied, including the usual debate and upfront payment articles as well as competitions and the Content Source! As a writer, I enjoy writing anyway, Helium just adds to that enjoyment.”
Robert Michael McKenna, Helium writer
“There was a title in one of those millions of how to write books that really hit home with me, and that’s why I started writing on Helium. I never read the book, and do not remember who wrote it, but I found the title directly to the point: ‘Write Is A Verb.”
