The Centennial Museum, which is part of the University of Texas at El Paso, was established in 1936 and is devoted to the natural and cultural history of the Chihuahuan Desert region. The Chihuahuan Desert, which stretches from New Mexico into Central Mexico, is the largest desert in North America and is characterized by a rich cultural history which is proudly displayed at the Centennial Museum.
