Historic Charleston, SC is filled with interesting buildings, mostly Victorian, Greek and Greek Revival in style. Appearing somewhat austere and stern, among the gingerbread ornamentation of the Victorian era is the Fireproof Building, which houses the South Carolina Historical Society and has a rich history of its own.
