Where did the joke 'why did the chicken cross the road' come from and why is it funny?
Where the joke came from I don't know, but I recall the first time I heard it and how super-funny I thought it was:
I was three or four years old and with my mother in the kitchen of my childhood home. All of a sudden my mother - out of nowhere - asked me "Why did the chicken cross the road?" The question was an odd one as far as I was concerned, but I said, "I don't know" and waited to see what other
